David Crane is a Suffolk-based freelance journalist and photographer, specialising in sports speedway and football.
In 2009, he entered into his third year of employment with the esteemed city newspaper, Cambridge News, and its sister editions, the Newmarket and Ely Weekly News, as their speedway writer. In addition, he moves into his fourth season as deputy correspondent of the Mildenhall Fen Tigers for the national Speedway Star magazine. Both roles also include supplying regular action and portrait photos of riders.
Prior to this, in 2006, he was correspondent for the Mildenhall Academy Conference League team for the Speedway Star.
Throughout 2005 and 2006, he was employed as press officer for Mildenhall Speedway which led to numerous full feature articles in the East Anglian Daily Times, Newmarket Journal, Cambridge Evening News, Ely Standard, Bury Free Press and more. This also included featuring in several live interviews on BBC Radio Suffolk and supplying pre-recorded interviews for the station. He resigned from the post in 2007 after taking up the post with Cambridge News.
David is currently undergoing training in footballing writing by providing showcase reports on Cambridge United and Histon for the Non League football newspapers.
